Norwegian History & Culture
  • Gain a deep understanding of Norway’s rich history, from the Ice Age, the Viking heritage to modern times.
  • Explore Norway’s cultural traditions, art, architecture, and the unique way of life in different regions.
  • Explore Norway’s iconic landscapes, from fjords and mountains to glaciers and coastal areas, while learning to explain natural phenomena like the Northern Lights and Midnight Sun.
  • Understand the diverse geography, flora, and fauna of key destinations, spanning from the warmer South to the Arctic North.
  • Understand contemporary Norwegian society, including government, economy, trade and industry and environmental policies.

The program combines a national overview of Norway’s history, culture, and geography with a local focus on Bergen and Voss and its fjord area, ensuring both broad knowledge and area-specific expertise. The online section takes about six weeks, followed by a two-week onsite training.

Certification includes a yearly membership offering optional educational activities, such as visits, seminars, and observer opportunities on tours. For select full-day tours, like Hardanger and Flåm, observation is required before leading independently.
